Six-year-old Ava loved painting rainbows and butterflies. When persistent fevers and unusual fatigue led to hospital tests, her parents never imagined the words they would hear—acute leukemia. The months that followed were filled with hospital rooms, IV lines, and moments of quiet fear. Ava missed birthday parties, school days, and playground laughter. But even on her hardest days, she carried her sketchbook—drawing colorful futures she believed she would live. Through WonderKidz Foundation’s oncology support program, Ava received timely access to specialized pediatric hematology care. Beyond treatment, her family received emotional support, counseling, and assistance that allowed them to remain by her side without the crushing weight of financial strain. Treatment was long, but Ava’s spirit was stronger. Today, she is cancer-free. She recently returned to school and proudly shared her dream of becoming a pediatric nurse—so she can help children feel brave the way her nurses helped her. “They gave us strength when ours was running out,” her father says. “WonderKidz gave Ava her tomorrow.”
